At Pension Pause, we value human interaction and cross-cultural communication above all else. To encourage our guests to step out of their rooms and meet each other, our guest rooms deliberately do not have TVs or refrigerators.
Instead, we warmly invite you to our shared lounge on the 1st floor! Bring your drinks and local snacks. Even if you only speak English, our translation devices and a friendly smile will cross any language barrier. Let's say "Kanpai" (Cheers) together!

Recently, international guests missed their bus and stayed with us unexpectedly. Because we intentionally do not have TVs in our rooms, they naturally gathered in the 1st-floor lounge at night.
Together with guests from other countries, we used "two translation devices" and had a wonderful time! We talked about the history of Mt. Fuji, shared hiking tips, and enjoyed meals and drinks brought in by guests, creating a fantastic night that crossed all language barriers.
Later, they kindly posted on their home country's SNS: "More than the facilities, the warmth of the owners is the absolute best!" This post went viral with tens of thousands of views.
At Pension Pause, we may not have luxurious private facilities, but we offer priceless, once-in-a-lifetime human connections. We look forward to welcoming you!

"We don't serve dinner so you can explore the excellent local flavors!"
Pause is located in a very convenient area. You can easily walk to authentic Japanese restaurants and a large supermarket. We provide a "Homemade Local Map" to all our guests!
💡 Pro Tip: Buy local sake or snacks at the nearby supermarket "OGINO" (5 min walk) and bring them to our shared lounge! Let's say "Kanpai" (Cheers) together!
We don't have a washing machine, but a 24/7 coin laundry is just a 5-minute walk away (Clean Claire).

A must-see at Lake Yamanaka! Just at sunrise, Mt. Fuji is beautifully colored by the morning light. This magical moment lasts only a few minutes!

To see this magical view, you must wake up very early. We (Father Yacchan & Mother Kinue) will probably still be fast asleep! (^O^)v
Feel free to unlock the front door yourself to step out and enjoy the fresh morning air. Just don't forget to lock it when you return. Enjoy your morning walk!
Mt. Fuji shows completely different faces depending on the season and time of day!
From mid-October to late February, the setting sun aligns perfectly with the summit, shining like a brilliant diamond. Lake Yamanaka is famously known as the "Sacred Place of Diamond Fuji" because it can be observed for a long period!
During the summer climbing season (July to early September), the dark silhouette of Mt. Fuji is dotted with a glowing trail of mountain huts and climbers' headlamps. It's a mystical summer night view!
The night sky here is incredibly clear! With good timing, you can see the International Space Station (ISS) crossing the starry sky right from our garden.
The owner (Father Yacchan), a former radio technician, closely monitors astronomical schedules. He also calculates the timing for the magical "Pearl Fuji" (when the moon sits right on top of Mt. Fuji). Feel free to ask us: "Can we see the ISS tonight?" Let's look up at the universe together!
Leaving at 4:00 AM to climb Mt. Fuji, join a cycling event, or take dawn photos? No problem!
Please settle your bill the night before. You can simply leave your room key at the designated spot when you depart. Good luck and be safe on your adventure!

Mt. Fuji has long been a sacred mountain for the Japanese people. In the past, it was not open to everyone like it is today, and women in particular were strictly forbidden from climbing. Historically, rather than a mountain to be climbed for recreation, it was a sacred peak to be worshiped and prayed to from the foothills.
Lake Yamanaka is a breathtaking paradise for cycling! We proudly welcome cycling enthusiasts and teams, including our wonderful friends from "F-Cycle".
After a refreshing ride around the Fuji Five Lakes, you can park your beloved bikes safely at our pension. But the best part comes after! Join us in the 1st-floor lounge to share your cycling adventures, exchange route tips with other guests, and enjoy a well-deserved drink.

No problem at all! We fully support early morning departures so you can catch the magical morning mist or the sunrise over Mt. Fuji. Let's make your active journey unforgettable!
Yacchan (康) & Kinue (絹枝)
Welcome to Pension Pause! We are an energetic couple in our 70s. Father "Yacchan" is a former radio engineer who loves IT and uses the latest translation devices to chat with guests from all over the world. Mother "Kinue" is a licensed cook who prepares our heartwarming breakfasts.
Why no TVs in the rooms?
We intentionally keep our guest rooms simple because we believe the best part of traveling is connecting with people! Bring your drinks to our 1st-floor lounge. Let's cross language barriers, share stories, and create unforgettable memories together! We look forward to welcoming you!
